The Swan 411 is a rugged and fast cruising yacht, well suited to extended passages and superbly constructed by the highly regarded Nautor yard. With modest tumblehome, a sleek profile yet comfortable accommodation, this design represents many of the best features of classic Sparkman & Stephens designs and is considered one of the most sought after models with only 42 having been produced, Wotan being hull No.40. Apart from the notable highlight of a full B&G navigation installation and new standing and running rigging in 2019, she has been well maintained and upgraded over recent years including a modern engine, replacement self-tailing winches and a good sail wardrobe. Offered for sale at a very competitive price, although generally in good order throughout this is to reflect that her teak decks are considered tired and in need of refurbishment or replacement if cosmetics are an important factor.

The Swan 411 layout offers up to nine berths consisting of a double berth to port and a single to starboard in the aft cabin, two pilot berths and two settee berths in the saloon, with two further folding pipe cots in the fo c sle. Excellent standing headroom is provided throughout (most areas 6'2" or more up to 6'4" maximum).
FORECABIN - Laid out as a traditional working fo'c'sle for versatility, two pipe cots with lee cloths fold up easily for access to storage beneath, plenty of useful storage, hatch to forepeak anchor locker and easy deck access via fixed steps up to the large central hatch.
HEADS AND FORWARD STORAGE - Located in a separate compartment to starboard and fitted with a marine toilet (feeding to a holding tank with deck and overboard discharge facilities), large stainless steel washbasin with mirror, and a shower tray with teak grating above. Excellent stowage is provided by two large lockers outboard of the heads whilst opposite is a large hanging locker and three further lockers.
SALOON - The saloon has settee berths upholstered to port and starboard, both with pilot berths storage outboard, either side of a removable central table with bottle and glass storage beneath. A large hatch and additional portlights provide good natural light and ventilation without compromising safety in rough seas, and all berths are fitted with lee cloths. Water and fuel tanks are located beneath the berths providing adequate tankage for long-distance cruising, with the weight just forward of midships countering the drivetrain weight further aft and creating a very well balanced design improving sea keeping.
GALLEY - An L-shaped galley to port is equipped with an Eno Grande Large gas cooker with two burners, oven and grill, large stainless steel sink, fridge, and good storage and work surface space. A stainless steel grab bar with strap mounts is also provided for safe food preparation whilst underway.
NAVIGATION STATION - A forward-facing chart table is located to starboard of the hinged companionway ladder and forward of the aft cabin passageway for easy access and safe usage in all conditions, fitted with useful storage in various areas, navigation equipment and an electrical distribution panel
AFT CABIN - The large owner's aft cabin is accessed via a passageway to starboard, with a large wet hanging locker outboard and access to the main electrical cupboard inboard. The cabin itself is fitted with a double berth to port and single berth to starboard, with a seating area between, lee cloths to all berths and good beneath berth storage. For added safety there is an escape hatch across the galley into the main saloon, equally useful for serving breakfast in bed through!
GENERAL EQUIPMENT - Fitted out throughout to the usual excellent standard produced by Nautor, with warm, traditional high quality teak cabinetry, teak and holly soleboards, blue Alcantara upholstery and white leatherette headlining. Pressurised hot and cold water is supplied via an Isotherm calorifier with immersion coil for water heating. There are three water tanks fitted with a total capacity of 252 litres, each can be isolated from the others and a Livol watermaker feeds to the first, largest 102 litre tank.
Swan 411 designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Nautor Yachts, Finland. She is No.40 of 42 built, finished in December 1978 and first launched in 1979. White painted hand-laid GRP hull (to expected Nautor excellent standards) with style stripes. Hull epoxy and copper coated in 2012. White GRP superstructure with teak laid GRP sandwich construction single laminate decks (although structurally sound the teak decks are now due for refurbishment or replacement). Lead cast fin keel with high tensile stainless steel bolts cast into keel, with single point lifting lug also fitted. Wheel steering to skeg hung rudder. Anodised aluminium toerails.

In 2019 the navigation equipment was comprehensively overhauled with a new plotter at the helm, multi-function display below decks, autopilot, radar, GPS compass and transducers for wind, depth, speed and temperature. At the same time an NMEA2000 backbone was installed allowing for easier upgrading in the future if desired.
Located under the companionway steps in a soundproofed compartment, Volvo Penta D2 55hp four cylinder marine diesel engine (new 2003). Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive with ropecutter to Maxprop three bladed feathering propeller. Stainless steel 130L fuel tank with internal fuel gauge and inspection hatch.
3 x AGM 12v 105ah deep cycle domestic batteries (new 2012) and 90ah engine battery, all charged via two engine alternators with an Adverc twin alternator regulator and battery management system for optimum charging when under engine. Link 10 battery monitoring system. Shorepower system with ringmains, CTEK intelligent 25amp battery charger and immersion coil for water heating. Small 150w inverter for providing mains supply to low draw items. Electrical distribution panel with analogue gauges and individual breaker switches. Full cabin lighting.
